Wandering with the Wildlife

Can you call it spring yet in England? One minute it's sunny, the next it's raining then it's snowing! Make up your mind! Well I have no idea, the weather is so unpredictable. But on Wednesday it was such a lovely day, a tad bit chilly but I guess that's what coats are for! Camera in hand and for three hours we wandered around Delamere Forest. It makes a change from sitting and binge watching TV series after TV series and checking Instagram every 10 minutes. We should all make time once a week or more to disconnect from the internet.

Loving Lately: TV Edition

The Shannara Chronicles (2016-)
42min | Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi

'An elvish three, known as the Ellcrys, is dying. The bad news is that the tree has been the only piece of magic that protects the Four Lands from the Demon World'

American series, The Shannara Chronicles aired on MTV at the beginning of the year. It's an adaptation of a series of fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. Like the Lord of the Rings films, the series are filmed in New Zealand. Which you can tell with the magically scenery through out the program. If you like any type of fantasy, I highly recommend watching it. I was a tad bit sceptical of the program at first, it being picked up by MTV. I've never actually seen them take on a series like this one before. I was unsure that they could actually pull something like this off and not make it to PG. But I hold my hands up and say they defiantly did it all right. Give yourself a pat on the back MTV! I get that it's geared towards a young adult audience but it doesn't go to overboard trying to appeal to them. I have to say that the CGI is magnificent. If your taking on a something this size with fantasy creators in it you need to make sure it doesn't look like a first year film student has produced it. All the attention to detail on the sets gives it more authenticity, like these places could actually exist. I can't comment on if they've stuck to the novels or not because I haven't read any of them yet. And to be honest I didn't know they existed until I actually started watched this series. The story is full of elf's, trolls, humans, gnome and demons. What's not to love?

The Man in the High Castle (2015-)
1h | Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller

'What would it be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States?'

American dystopian alternative history series, The Man in the High Castle produced by Amazon Studios and the plot episode aired on Amazon Prime Video and it got picked up for 10 more episodes. The series is loosely based on the 1962 novel of the same name by American science fiction author Philip K. Davies. You can also count on Amazon to produce a really thrilling program. All the hype circling the series throw me off watching it for awhile but one afternoon I was bored and decided to give it ago. And I'm glad I did. Before I start talking about the series, can I just say how haunting the opening credits song is. I could literally have it on repeat (is that weird?). Haunting but beautiful! I give props to programs that have a really good opening sequence. The alternative reality it messing with your head and it's scary to think about all those 'What Ifs'. Defiantly gave me goose bumps! For a tv program it doesn't use that much CGI not like a fantasy program would, which I'm glad for it makes it that much more realistic. Great cinematography and the attention to detail in the historical artefacts is pretty spot on!
