Positive Thoughts Only.

It's the start of a new week and I thought I'd start with posting a new blog post before I officially start uni. I've been back in Preston for a week now, moved back into my flat from last year so everything is familiar. New places can be scary. I decided to put some effort into to making my room feel comfortable because I'll be living here for the next nine months.
I've got a tradition so to say, when I'm moving back to uni. For the last two years, I've stocked up on magazine and books before heading back. This year I picked up Elle, Oh Comely, Vogue and Dazed & Confused magazine. I'll read them all first and use they for inspiration and picture references. I managed to get my hands on Alexa Chung's new book 'it', got to love Waterstone giftcards. If I could, I would totally live in there. Haven't got around to reading it yet though, it's the next book to read after I've read The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald.
I start my second year in less than two days. I can say that I'm a tad bit terrified to be honest because the grades start to count but I promise myself I wouldn't start the year off negatively. Positive thoughts only. I'm excited and nervous about getting the first project. I don't know why either. It's me being a weirdo.
I've just realised that I need to work out a system to juggle my uni work, my blog and commissions that I might get. I think I need to start to start keeping a diary of some sort. That means I need to buy one. Spreading my time out so I don't leave anything to the last minute.

September Rolls Around Again..

It's about that time of year again. Re-packing all the stuff I unpacked four months again. I'm undecided on whether to start packing now or leave it to the day before I move back out? Deciding on what clothes are a defiant most and the clothes that can stay at home. How many books are excitable to take with me. And the fact I have to take ALL my art stuff back with me :O Plus deciding if I need to take a last minute trip to IKEA or not. Making sure I have everything I need. This is were the fun of making lists comes into play.
This is my third year of university but only my second year of my degree. I did my zero year which was my foundation year and after that I went into my first year of Illustration. Which leads me to where I am now, my second year.

Doing my foundation in art and design first before starting my degree was the best thing I've ever done. At school I did all my GCSEs & then I carried on through to 6th form to continue with my A Levels. I did three courses: Art, Product Design and Media Studies. As must people in 6th form/college are unsure on what they want to spend three years of their life studying. I had no clue on what I wanted to do. At the beginning I was died set on doing Interior Design but then I started to get into Photography. So I was completely confused! I started looking into doing a foundation course before starting my degree so I could experiment in that year and at the end come out of it with a solid idea on what I wanted to do for the next three years.
A little advice from me, take it or leave it, it's up to you. If you know you want to head in a 'art & design' direction but are unsure in what area you want to go into because there are so many to chooses from, I would recommend to look into doing a foundation before hand. This is my opinion, I'm not saying everyone should do one. If you have a good idea of that you want to do then go for it.
With me I wanted to be dead set on what I was passionate about and what I could see myself enjoying for the next three year and of course what I wanted a career in too. I little detour on what this post was about.
